Child Protection

In collaboration with Children Believe, SPEECH addresses violations of child rights that are relevant to the villages in Virudhunagar that we target, such as child labour, school dropout, early forced marriage, sexual abuse, domestic violence, household workload, corporal punishment, unacceptance, and ignoring.

Advancing child rights, child participation and protection

A total of 45 children from five villages selected the locations for the painting and supervised the publicity painting for the national child protection mechanism 1098.

As 270 kids participated in the world day against child labour on June 12th, their understanding of the subject of child labour improved.

Community members accessed medical facilities of ICDS centres through our ECCD committees as all of the ICDS centres were closed due to the pandemic.

For the academic year 2021–2022, working communities saw 100% (2,794) enrolment in classes 1 and 6 because of the CLC volunteers’ strong relationship with the school staff, which supported girls’ equality.

As the credit groups function effectively, 1506 members from 104 Nanayam Self-help groups have received enhanced financial assistance.

Increased gender sensitivity among younger generation through social media activities.

The income level of 117 families have increased and their family maintenance eased due to the goat rearing support assisted by the program, around 238 community members have been benefited due to the support. SPEECH provided ₹ 6000/- each to 125 vulnerable women to buy native hens and cocks and cages.
