Welcome to SPEECH. SPEECH is a non-profit started in 1987 by the late Dr. John Devavaram to support children, women, and other marginalized people. We work in Virudhunagar, Ramnad, and Madurai on education, health, livelihoods, climate change, and social inclusion.

In Memory of Our Visionary Founder, Dr. John Devavaram A passionate leader and changemaker, the late Dr. John Devavaram founded SPEECH with the belief that every human being deserves dignity, opportunity, and justice. His legacy lives on in every life we touch and every community we serve.

We remain deeply committed to unlocking the potential of disadvantaged individuals and communities. Our work challenges the barriers of caste, religion, language, and identity-striving for a more just, inclusive, and compassionate society.

Holistic Development of Children

Since 2008, we and CHILDREN BELIEVE have been working together on various children-focused development projects in Thiruchuzhi block.

Nutritional intake of 3300 community members from 1000 families have increased through the supplement of pulses provided as part of COVID relief activity.

Strengthening Community Groups

21 active higher education committees function with our support, and ₹12,25,538 has been provided to 238 vulnerable students for their higher education.

Climate Change Initiative

In collaboration with Children Believe, we address violations of child rights relevant to villages in Virudhunagar district.
